Hotel in the capital of russia,Savoy Hotel

Savoy Hotel

The recently re-opened and fully renovated Savoy Hotel is one of the oldest in Moscow, originally opened in 1913. Located in the very heart of the Russian capital, a short walk from the Bolshoy and Maly Theaters, Red Square, and the Kremlin, the Savoy offers a taste of opulent traditional luxury combined with the home comforts that only a small hotel can offer.

With only 67 guestrooms, the Savoy is one of the few genuine boutique hotels in Moscow with international levels of service and comfort. Sumptuous, classically styled interiors combine with hi-tech room amenities and facilities to offer guests the very best of old and new. Despite its size, the Savoy has a full range of 5-star business and leisure facilities, including elegant and unusual MICE venues, a luxurious fitness center, and first-class restaurant.

Known in the Soviet era as the Hotel Berlin, the Savoy reverted to its original name in 1989, and was the first hotel in Russia to become a member of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World association.

 Savoy Hotel: Location & Directions

Nearest metro: Kuznetsky most, Lubyanka

The Savoy is centrally located in the historic heart of Moscow, just a 3-minute walk from both Lubyanka and Kuznetsky Most Metro Stations. Just around the corner from the hotel stand the imposing pillars and stucco facade of the celebrated Bolshoy Theatre, gem of Moscow's performing arts scene and home to the world-renowned Bolshoy Ballet. With a history dating back to 1776, the Bolshoy is one of the worlds greatest musical theaters, and is busy restoring its mighty reputation after a brief lull in the nineties.

The Maly Theatre, Moscow's premier Drama Theatre, has a history almost as rich as the Bolshoy's, and was once directed by the great 19th century playwright Alexander Ostrovsky. Although of less interest to non-Russian speakers, it is still a major cultural institution, and a beautiful building. Just a 15-minute walk from the Savoy lies The Moscow Kremlin and the center of Russian political and religious power. Built in the 12th century AD, The Kremlin formed the nucleus around which the city of Moscow gradually grew up. Home to some of Russia's most notorious rulers, from the despotic Ivan The Terrible to the Soviet dictator Stalin, The Kremlin is steeped in drama and history. The imposing red brick towers of the fortress enclose the Senate, the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation, the Grand Kremlin Palaces, numerous cathedrals containing the remains of many of the Russian Tsars and the State Armory, housing an extensive collection of Imperial artifacts.

Just beyond the towering walls of The Kremlin lies the vast cobbled expanse of Red Square, famed as the site of numerous Bolshevik demonstrations, Soviet parades and now occasional pop concerts. Surrounding the square are the brightly colored domes of St. Basil's Cathedral, the elegant turn-of-the-century shopping mall GUM, the national Historical Museum and the red and black granite cubes of Lenin's Mausoleum, still displaying the body of the founder of the Soviet State many decades after his death.

The Savoy Hotel is located a 50-minute drive from Moscow's busy international airport Sheremetevo-2, and a similar distance from the newer Domodedovo Airport.
